Husky puppies are typically ready to go to their new homes between 8 to 10 weeks old. At 8 weeks old, Husky puppies are weaned and have started to developing social skills from their mother and littermates. Here’s why this timing is important:
1. Social Development: Puppies learn critical social behaviors from their littermates and mother. Separating them too early (before 8 weeks) can lead to issues like biting, anxiety, or difficulty interacting with other dogs.
2. Health and Immunity: Husky puppies need time to receive important nutrients and antibodies from their mother’s milk and to begin their vaccinations (usually started around 6-8 weeks).
3. Bonding: By 8-10 weeks, puppies are in a prime stage for bonding with their new families and adapting to their new environment.
With this in mind, at Snowsong Siberians and Cockapoo’s, we don’t let our puppies go home until they are 8 weeks old. We also require that our puppies see our vet for a health exam and 1st shots before heading home.
