Feeding a Husky puppy the right amount of food is essential for their growth and health. The amount you should feed depends on their age, size, and activity level, but most Husky puppies require 2 to 3 cups of high-quality puppy food per day, divided into three meals. Personally, I prefer to free feed my Huskies. While occasionally a Husky will take advantage of this and we need to adjust, most Huskies will regulate their eating on their own.
A Simple Feeding Schedule by Age
• 8–12 weeks: Feed 3-4 small meals per day to support their rapid growth and energy needs.
• 3–6 months: Transition to 3 meals per day as their stomach capacity increases.
• 6–12 months: Reduce to 2 meals per day as they approach adulthood.
Choosing the Right Food
Select a puppy food specifically formulated for medium to large breeds. Look for a balance of protein, fat, and essential nutrients to fuel their energy and support bone and muscle development.
Monitoring Weight and Growth
Husky puppies are naturally lean and should not appear overweight. Regularly check their body condition and adjust portions as needed. Always provide fresh water, and avoid overfeeding, as Huskies are prone to digestive issues if they eat too much at once.
Consult your veterinarian to tailor a feeding plan to your puppy’s specific needs, ensuring they grow into a healthy and happy adult Husky.
